PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia Tbk (“PT Japfa Tbk”), our 55.4%-owned* subsidiary listed at the Indonesia Stock Exchange, operates this segment.

Through our vertically integrated operations, we produce animal feed and multiple staple proteins, namely poultry, beef and aquaculture, in Indonesia. From a single poultry feed mill in Surabaya, we have been able to grow in scale and build a network of modern faming facilities using advanced management systems and strong farming competences.

Today we are the second largest integrated industrialised poultry company in Indonesia.

Poultry

We began our poultry More than 50 years ago and today we are the second largest integrated industrialised poultry company in Indonesia.

Feed: We produce premium-quality animal feed for our own operations and for sale to third parties. Our main feed brands, such as Comfeed and Benefeed, are among the most recognised in the market due to their consistent quality and effective feed conversion ratio. Our success in producing high-quality poultry feed stems from the expertise of our nutritionists in formulating products that are best suited for livestock needs and tropical weather conditions.

Breeding: In collaboration with Aviagen, a world leading supplier of poultry genetics, we produce high-performance Day-Old-Chicks (“DOC”) that are adapted to tropical conditions.

Commercial broiler farming: We support poultry farmers with expert advisory on farming methodologies and value-added services through dedicated teams of technical specialists.

Poultry health: Through our in-house animal vaccine research and production facility, Vaksindo, we produce autogenous vaccines for the poultry industry to combat the threat of diseases.

Consumer foods: We are a pioneer provider of protein based processed food in Indonesia. Our downstream consumer food products are manufactured mainly using our own animal proteins as raw materials, which ensures consistency in the food safety, quality and reliability. As such, our ready-to-eat and ready-to-cook processed food products under the So Good and So Nice brands are widely enjoyed by families across Indonesia.

Aquaculture

Shrimp and Fish Feed manufacturing is the core activity of our aquaculture business. Our aquafeed mills in Indonesia produce a wide range of feed products for both marine and freshwater aquaculture species.

As part of our industrialised farming model, we also operate fish and shrimp hatcheries as value-added products to our customers, as well as freshwater fish farms, shrimp ponds, processing plants and cold storage.

Our shrimp breeding capabilities have been enhanced with the establishment of shrimp broodstock multiplication centres, in a joint venture with Hendrix Genetics Aquaculture B.V. to cultivate Kona Bay shrimp broodstock from Hawaii, which is renowned for high yield performance. Kona Bay is a market leader, supplying more than 50% of shrimp broodstock in Indonesia.

As part of our total solution approach, we also provide technical assistance services, animal health services and R&D teams to help our customers increase farm productivity.

Beef

We operate an integrated beef business from beef cattle breeding, fattening and abattoir to value-added meat production. We focus on the premium meat business under the Tokusen Wagyu Beef brand.

We ensure food safety and traceability by adhering to stringent animal welfare and biosecurity throughout our beef supply chain.
