Leading industrialised agri-food company Japfa Ltd (“Japfa” or, together with its subsidiaries, the “Group”) announces another successful delivery of more than 32,000 live chickens, corresponding to about 58.3 tons, via sea to Singapore from Indonesia.
The chickens were raised in Bintan by PT Ciomas Adisatwa, a subsidiary of PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia Tbk, which in turn is a subsidiary of Japfa Ltd. This shipment follows the successful exports in May and July. With this shipment, a total of more than 91,000 live birds have been exported by Japfa to Singapore from Indonesia.
Tan Yong Nang, Chief Executive Officer of Japfa, said: “With this shipment we take a further step towards the regular supply of fresh chicken to Singapore from Indonesia. As a leading industrialised agri-food player, with headquarters in Singapore, Japfa has the capacity to meet Singapore’s demand and standards for chicken and we are proud to contribute to the country's food security strategy by providing local consumers with quality products.”
Japfa is one of the largest poultry producers in Indonesia and in the region. Today Japfa’s activities are critical to feeding people in Indonesia as the Group supplies approximately 20% of poultry products in the market.
Japfa places a strong emphasis on quality and safety throughout its operations. The company’s farms and processing facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art technology and adhere to the highest international standards of animal welfare, food safety, and environmental sustainability, such as the closed-house systems for poultry production, to ensure the availability of quality and safe poultry products. Japfa’s standards are proven by a number of local and international certifications. For Indonesia these include the Avian Influenza (AI) free compartment certificate, a Veterinary Control Number (NKV) certificate, Halal product certificate, application of quality management issues ISO 2200, Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), and Food Safety System Certification (FSSC) 22000.
As such, Japfa has the capacity to meet Singapore’s demand for chicken, a staple protein food on our tables.
